ABOUT THE ARTIST
The Stephen Dey story is one of family unity, faith, marriage, and community which inspires the families he serves.
As a middle child that comes from a large family, and being one of seven kids growing up in Pennsylvania, Stephen moved to North Carolina when he was entering the sixth grade. His two oldest brothers and sister remained up north. Feeling somewhat distanced from them, it was years later that he developed a strong bond with his older siblings after many family trips to the Outer Banks. The family gatherings are and continue to be defining moments for Stephen and have become the cornerstone of why family is so sovereign to him.
Stephen has been married to his best friend Jessica, whom he cherishes and adores, for 27 years. They are proud parents of four children. The eldest, Joseph is 22, Alexandria (Alex) 20, Avery 14 and Hudson 8. Stephen instills his core values of family unity, faith, marriage, and community with his family. The same values he learned in the Outer Banks.
He grew up in the Catholic school system and has developed a close relationship with Jesus Christ which has inspired him to give back to his community. He has served on the diocese school board for six years and has served as president for two of those years. He has been a member of the Knights of Columbus for over 30 years assisting and volunteering through his church. Stephen is passionate about his volunteer work as he has committed his time to other organizations like Second Harvest, Dress for Success, The Down Syndrome Association of Greater Charlotte, Best Buddies of North Carolina, and the special needs committee for the diocese including taking an active role as the social director in his neighborhood helping his neighbors in the place he calls home.
Family unity, faith, marriage, and community have been indelibly embedded into his life and provides him with the guiding light that drives him to bring families together through his portraitures.
And one day, God willing, he hopes to leave this earth better than he found it.
