The Stephen Dey Story: A Life Rooted in Family, Faith, and Community
Stephen Dey’s story is one of family unity, faith, marriage, and community—values that continue to inspire the families he serves through his work.
Growing up as one of seven children in a large Pennsylvania family, Stephen experienced the deep bonds of family life from an early age. When he moved to North Carolina in the sixth grade, his two oldest brothers and sister remained up north, creating a sense of distance. However, over the years, family trips to the Outer Banks became a cherished tradition, strengthening his connection with his siblings and reinforcing the importance of family unity. These gatherings remain defining moments in Stephen’s life and serve as the foundation of his deep appreciation for family, togetherness, and lasting memories.
For 31 years, Stephen has been married to his best friend, Jessica, whom he cherishes and adores. Together, they have built a life centered around their four children—Joseph (26), Alexandria (23), Avery (19), and Hudson (12). He instills in them the same core values of faith, love, and service that he learned through his own family experiences in the Outer Banks.
A Life of Faith and Service
Stephen’s commitment to faith has been a guiding force throughout his life. Raised in the Catholic school system, he developed a deep relationship with Jesus Christ, which has inspired him to give back to his community. Over the years, he has:
✔️ Served on the diocese school board for six years, including two as president
✔️ Been a Knights of Columbus member for over 30 years, volunteering through his church
✔️ Dedicated time to organizations such as Second Harvest, Dress for Success, The Down Syndrome Association of Greater Charlotte, Best Buddies of North Carolina, and the special needs committee for the diocese
✔️ Taken an active role as social director in his neighborhood, fostering a strong sense of community
Bringing Families Together Through Portraiture
Stephen’s passion for family unity and storytelling extends into his work as a portrait photographer. He understands that photographs are more than just images—they are legacies, moments frozen in time, and reminders of the love shared between family members. His mission is to create timeless, heartfelt portraits that strengthen the bonds of the families he serves, just as his own family traditions have shaped his life.
Leaving a Lasting Impact
Through his faith, family values, and commitment to service, Stephen strives to make the world a better place—one family portrait at a time. And one day, God willing, he hopes to leave this earth better than he found it.
